Glory Glory Manchester United
History was saved & hope was shed to 19 clubs & millions of fans across the globe early this morning (Singapore time)
It was 94mins of ball-dropping action. Heaven smiled for once upon the Red devils as an unlikely hero named Darren Fletcher gave the hosts the lead in the 31st min with a looping header over the “best goal keeper in the world”. Non-stop onslaught was the reply from the Blues in the 2nd half as Del Horny, Make-ne-ne, Drop-balls and the rest of the overpriced Chelsea squad fought for the equalizer. Tensions started to rise and so did the number of yellow cards as Graham Poll dished out 5 in between the 60-70th min. The match was beginning to take its toll on the United team as fatigue kicked in, but they continued to play with their hearts out and defended with their bodies & souls. My man for the night was Alan Smith. His new haircut gave him a boyish-angelic look but his tackling that night was more like something straight out of hell. Wave after wave of Blue attack was foiled by that devil. As full time approached, millions worldwide feared one of Chelsea’s despicable goals. A corner kick would have been enough, a little flick by Damien Duff would have destroyed all hope, but it didn’t happen & after 4 excruciating minutes of injury time the whistle was blown and the fans with me at Chijmes, Old Trafford & all across the world exploded into celebration.
All hope, joy and faith pinned onto something as fragile & unpredictable as the Manchester United defence. Thank God the Christian walk isn’t likewise. I would like to compare it more to the Manchester United in 1996-2001. Even though there were a few heartaches & minor setbacks, at the end of the day, you would still have full confidence & assurance of their eventual glorification. They never failed their fans who put their faith in them, just like how God would never fail to forgive us, receive us & bless us with everything we need to live a fulfilled life if we put our faith in Him.
Glory to God! And for now, glory glory Manchester United!
